Save the Date

What is a Save the Date?

A Save the Date is an official announcement of the date and often the location of your wedding. It is the first formal communication of wedding details to share with your guests and informs them that they are on the guest list with a formal invitation still to follow. 

While there is no set rule on when is best to send out your save the dates, it is standard etiquette to give them out around 6 to 12 months prior to the wedding. It is recommended to give your guests as much notice as possible, particularly if the wedding is to be a destination wedding or may require a lot of planning and travelling from your guests.
